The Importance of Regular Checks: Eddie's Story

When Eddie the Border Terrier came in for his free dental check at All Creatures Vets in Warrington, Eddie’s vet Ellie found dental disease and a lump in his mouth. He was booked in for a biopsy and dental treatment. Eddie had a series of pre-op blood tests, which revealed abnormalities that raised some concerns. After consulting with Head Vet Simon at their sister practice in Rees, an ultrasound revealed a condition within his gall bladder known as a Mucocele (a known issue in Eddie's breed) which can be potentially life-threatening.

Eddie's owners agreed with the vets that the best course of action was surgery to have his gallbladder removed. Thankfully, Eddie made it through surgery without any complications. Analysis at a laboratory confirmed that his gall bladder was close to rupturing and the issue was caught just in time. Eddie has made a full recovery from his life saving surgery, and is booked in to have his dental disease treated at a later date.

His devoted owners were very glad that they agreed to the blood tests and ultrasound, and that they took Eddie for his dental check in the first place!
