Tom qualified from the University of Bristol in 2007. Tom’s interest in veterinary dentistry started early in his career when he attended an advanced dental course. One course led to many more until his interest developed into a full-blown passion. In 2018, he gained the MANZCVS qualification in dentistry and oral surgery. In 2020 he became the president of the British Veterinary Dental Association.
Tom has worked with charities travelling to India and Armenia to meet the dental needs of sloth bears and brown bears as well as the occasional leopard, lion and hyena.
After working as a general practitioner for over 10 years, he now works exclusively in dentistry and oral surgery. Based at Charter Vets, Barnstaple, he offers the South West of England a comprehensive referral service in his field. He’s a lover of surfing, wildlife and whippets and feeds a very handsome cat twice a day.
Tooth fractures are common in dogs and cats, particularly in younger animals. Left untreated, they can become infected and very painful. In this case study, we will hear about Stuart and Cleo, and how their fractures were treated so that the broken teeth could be preserved.
