Lizzie is an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon and clinical leader with a strong background in first opinion practice and operational leadership. She is currently UK Companion Animal Veterinary Director at CVS (UK) Ltd, where she leads on clinical strategy, governance and the delivery of high-quality patient care across a large network of practices.

Education

Lizzie graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2007. She completed a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2015 and was subsequently granted Advanced Practitioner status by the RCVS. She has maintained a strong commitment to continued professional development throughout her career, with a particular focus on evidence-based practice, clinical governance and leadership.

Experience

Lizzie has a wide portfolio of experience treating companion animals and exotic species across a variety of first opinion practice settings, including out-of-hours and emergency care. She has extensive experience managing a broad range of medical and surgical conditions in dogs and cats, alongside more complex and urgent presentations.

Lizzie has worked for CVS since 2007, becoming both a Senior Clinical Director and Regional Clinical Lead in 2018. In 2022, she was appointed UK Companion Animal Veterinary Director, reflecting her significant contribution to clinical leadership and strategic development across the organisation.

Alongside her clinical work, she has developed a strong interest in advancing standards of care through structured clinical governance, colleague development, and client-centred communication. She is particularly passionate about responsible prescribing of antimicrobials and supporting best practice in antimicrobial stewardship across veterinary teams.

In her leadership roles, she has supported and mentored veterinary teams, driven clinical quality, and ensured alignment with best practice. Her approach focuses on empowering colleagues, fostering collaboration, and maintaining high standards of patient and client care.

In her current role, Lizzie is responsible for shaping and delivering clinical strategy across CVS. This includes oversight of clinical policies, regulatory compliance, professional standards, and key initiatives to improve both patient outcomes and client experience. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business, as well as external partners and charity organisations, to support shared goals in animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Lizzie is particularly passionate about client centric health span-focused care, continuous improvement, and supporting teams to deliver compassionate, transparent and high-quality veterinary services.
